Cost: $120/semester

Class Description:

The written word is a powerful tool for any student to develop. Teaching kids to write well can pose quite a challenge, but we’re here to help! Using IEW’s Medieval History Based Writing lessons curriculum, your student will learn to write in a variety of styles creatively and confidently.

Each week, students will be introduced to new skills and stylistic techniques, which they will then practice at home with assigned writing tasks.

The instructor will not be collecting or grading student work, but the curriculum comes with easy-to-use rubrics for evaluating student work at home.

This is a two-semester course, and will not be open for new students in the second semester, as the material builds upon itself.

Tests/Quizzes:  There will be no tests or quizzes given.  We will engage in regular review, and students will be encouraged to bring in their writing assignments to read to the class.

Grades: 5th-8th graders

Instructors: Liz Richardson

Time: 9:00-9:50am

Required materials: IEW Medieval History Based Writing Lessons student edition, pencil, notebook paper

Recommended but not required: IEW MHBWL teacher edition
