Cost: $120/semester plus material costs of $30.00 per semester
Payment for the semester must be made to MINDCAP prior to the first day of class. Mindcap is eligible for Braintree and ESA funding.
Class Description:
What does your child do when faced with a challenge? In this MINDCAP Brain Builders class, 3rd and 4th grade students will learn to identify, label, and employ cognitive functions, the building blocks of thinking, coupled with an understanding about the process of learning. Awareness of the building blocks and process of thinking helps students strengthen their problem-solving skills, leading to an increase in their potential for learning. Through activities, strategy games, and guided learning tasks, students will move from trying to ignore or sidestep challenge to a growing openness toward embracing challenge (inside and outside of academics) due to their development, awareness, and employment of cognitive skills and strategies that they discover in class.
Brain Builders students will be given the opportunity to develop skills and abilities in the following areas (and more):
Focus and Attention
Learning Processes
Social Interaction
Logic and Reasoning
Organization
Memory
Goal-setting and Planning
Executive Function Skills
Mindcap requires at least 10 students to hold this class. If we don't reach that number, we will have to cancel the class. This therapy is normally $100/hr.
Mindcap is eligible for Braintree and ESA funding.
Homework: Possible short journaling assignments or other small non-academic assignments (drawing, completing a page of puzzle problems, etc)
Grades: 3rd-4th
Instructor: Julie Smith
Time: 1:00-1:50 pm
