Class Description: Step into a high school art class where creativity meets curiosity. Students will explore the foundational elements of drawing, painting, photography, and sculpture. We’ll delve into art history and discover how artists have shaped the way we see the world. From mastering techniques to experimenting with personal style, this class encourages bold thinking and meaningful self-expression. Whether sketching from observation, mixing color on canvas, or analyzing iconic works of art, students develop both technical skills and a deeper understanding of artistic ideas—building confidence in their own creative voice along the way.

This is a two-semester course, and new students are welcome to join the second semester.

There will be quizzes based on the art history lectures in class as well as short essays at the end of the quizzes. A grade will be generated for these quizzes, sketchbook checks, and a class presentation.

Homework: Homework will be in the form of maintaining a sketchbook, taking notes during lectures/demonstrations, and studying notes for a quiz.

*Homework is required if the student is taking the class for credit, but they are welcome to attend the class and have optional homework, but receive no high school credit.
