Class Description:
Grammar gets a bad rap in the minds of many students, but learning grammar doesn’t have to be boring. In fact, grammar is really a fun, complex puzzle which, when pieced together properly, forms the beautiful fabric of the English language. In this class, students will take a deep dive into parts of speech, phrase and clause structures, punctuation, types of sentences and their uses, sentence diagramming, and so much more. We’ll build our knowledge base together in a sequential, common-sense fashion that will leave the students with a deeper understanding of English grammar.
Homework: Students will complete various assignments at home each week. These will vary in length and complexity but should generally take 30 minutes or less a day to complete.
Grades: 3rd-8th graders
Instructors: Liz Richardson
Time: 10:00-10:50am
Required materials:
-IEW's Fix-It Grammar, level 2: Town Mouse and Country Mouse, student book
