Class Description:

This is a one-semester course that will inform students how individual choices directly influence their occupational goals and future earnings potentials. Real world topics covered will include income, interest, banking, college, budgeting, credit/credit cards, taxes, investing, retirement, insurance, and car and home purchases. Students will design personal and household budgets utilizing checkings and savings accounts, gain knowledge in finance, debt and credit management, and evaluate and understand insurance and taxes. This course will provide a foundational understanding for making informed personal financial decisions, leading to good financial decisions in preparation for adulthood.

*Parents should note that this is a one-semester class, only offered for our fall semester. This class is eligible for high school credit.

*Please also note that this class is offered at both 10:00 and 11:00 a.m., but students only need to register for one class period.

Homework: 3-4 hours per week

Grades:  9th-12th (teacher will consider mature 8th graders)

Time: 11:00-11:50am

Required materials: Notebook and folder or binder, calculator with interest function, reading material to be determined by teacher.
