Elementary History & Literature
Cost: $120/semester
Class Description:
Create your own hieroglyphics, crafts about the plagues of Egypt, dress up in ancient Greek garbs, games participating in the original Olympics, activities based on the seven wonders of the world, discussions about the apostles of Christ, crafts and stories, models...and MORE!! JOIN US as we travel through time traveling from Ancient Mesopotamia to Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece and Ancient Rome to the first Christians and through the fall of Rome.
Elementary classes are not graded, but fun and interactive learning
One of the benefits of studying the ancients is that the kids are more prepared to tackle the harder topics once they hit high school. Julius Caesar isn’t so daunting to tackle because these characters are as familiar to the kids as fairy tales. The Ancients are fun and exciting to study and learn through different styles and experiences help the student identify with that time period in history.
Semester 2 is NOT a prerequisite of Semester 1. They can be taken independent of each other.
Grades: 1st-5th
Instructor: Pam Senac
Time: 1:00-1:50pm
Required materials (Choose 1):
The Story of the World: History for the Classical Child: Volume 1: Ancient Times: From the Earliest Nomads to the Last Roman Emperor, Susan Wise Bauer
OR
The Story of Civilization, Volume I: The Ancient World, Phillip Campbell
Literature choices provide optional enrichment curriculum to add a little depth to your study of these historical events. You are welcome to buy, borrow or skip the literature choices. If your child is participating in IEW Ancient History Writing courses at Credo Homeschool Classes, you will find that we’ve done our best to match up the literature choices to the suggested reading in your IEW books.
